I grew up in Malaysia, and it still shapes how I work.
I grew up in Ipoh, a small town in Malaysia about three and a half hours from Kuala Lumpur, the capital. The old town is in the picture above. My first real contact with a computer was through video games, and it turned into a habit: I spent around seven hours a day on one.
At 14 I started learning to code in school. Soon after, I tried to make a game of my own on BYOND, an anime MMORPG based on Bleach. It never took off, and it didn't take me long to realise that.
I came to the US at 19 to study computer science at Purdue University, and graduated in 2017. From there I joined two startups, and in 2020 the second was acquired by Zillow. I stayed at Zillow until 2022, then joined Intuitive Surgical, where I work on the mobile app for the da Vinci surgical robots.
In 2026, with two kids and a mortgage, I took a leap of faith and started my own company. I'm working on Mudroom now.
